Im guessing you may have downloaded the wrong driver. but this would mean the software cannot communicate properly with the printers controller board cause xp and vista have different chip set configurations. ;) im hopping that's all. but it can also mean that theirs a problem with the vram and it needs to be factory rest. try this. Print Nozzle Check Pattern / Self Test from unit (iP4000)
Press and hold the <Resume/Cancel> button.
When the Power lamp blinks twice, release the button.
Examine the nozzle check pattern outputhead over to http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=232&modelid=10239#SupportDetailActClick support and services from the tab menuclick frequently asked questions bellowand select Option# 8.
